Cleanaway initiatives encourage waste minimisation in Albany

In conjunction with Cleanaway, The City of Albany has developed a Waste Minimisation Strategy to effectively manage and reduce the ecological footprint of its urban growth to ensure the future of the region is maintained. As part of the Strategy, several new initiatives are underway such as the introduction of a three bin system, construction of a "state of the art" Material Recycling Facility and the use of the Bio-Insert organic bin for green waste. Cleanaway Perth joins South Eastern Metropolitan Region of Councils (SEMRC)

The residential heart of the greater Perth metropolitan area lies within the SEMRC which is comprised of three councils, The City of Gosnells, The City of Armadale and The City of Southern Perth, a combined total of 177,000 residents.

A long standing relationship providing services with the SEMRC has seen resident surveys identify our Waste Management Services as one of Councils’ most successful and strongly council recognised services.

Cleanaway approached the SEMRC with exciting plans to operate a new state of the art MRF (Materials Recovery Facility) and provide even higher service levels to these councils. Despite tough local competition, Cleanaway was selected to maintain existing services and introduce new services in some areas.

Renewing and growing our partnership with the SEMRC member Councils demonstrates our mutual commitment to achieving the best outcomes for the community and is an important partnership for Cleanaway recognising the professional operations and project preparation of the WA team.
